Before that, the basic idea behind Insider Bets recommendations is that Promoters know their company best. When they buy more shares or invest additional funds, especially during downturns, it may indicate they see value at lower prices or expect a turnaround in the company’s or industry’s fortunes.

- It belongs to Steel and Power industry promoted by first generation entrepreneurs
- Since FY 21, company’s sales have increased by 31% and PBT (excluding exceptional items) by 225%
- Over the last 7-8 years, the company didn’t expand much; however, in the last 15 months, the company has embarked on a major Growth CAPEX with significant increase in steel and power capacity expansion
- With captive solar power, the company will be able to generate significant savings on power cost front. Power and fuel cost is the 2nd largest cost item for the company after the raw materials
What’s interesting – Instead of going through convertible warrants route, Promoters directly subscribed to preferential shares; thus, infusing entire money for growth CAPEX in one go.
Further, after completion of the latest issue, promoter’s infusion of funds into the company will be almost 10% of the current market cap.
Valuations – The valuations are attractive as at the time of recommendation the stock was trading around 1 time book value and around 11-12 times earnings (without exceptional items).
Promoters have basically chosen to invest when the industry is going through a downcycle.
In many such cases it is indicative of Promoters either finding value at such low prices or expecting improvement in performance going ahead.
