Since topping out in Sep’24, the Indian stock market is down around 25% on a broader level.

This month, we had another major event in the form of Trump Tariffs. The good news is, except for China, Trump has announced a 90-day pause on reciprocal tariffs with a universal rate of 10%.

As is often the case, whenever the markets have corrected sharply, the general question that comes to mind is…Have the markets bottomed out?

To answer this question, today, we will look at a chart – ‘Google Trend – Multibagger Stocks‘.

This chart has been quite accurate in depicting investor sentiment. In the past, barring a few times, it has also predicted market tops and bottoms quite well.

Important Update: Tomorrow, we will release a new recommendation for “Insider Bets” subscribers.

Google Trend – Multibagger Stocks

  • What this chart tells us is, “How interested are investors these days in searching for Multibagger stocks?”
  • As can be observed from the chart, the “Multibagger Stock” trends chart peaked around the same time markets peaked in the past: Dec’07, Sep’10, Jan’18, Jan’22.
  • Similarly, the “Multibagger stock” trends chart bottomed around the same time markets hit bottom in the past: Dec’08, Jul’13, Mar’20, Mar’23.
  • Generally, whenever the value breaches 65, the market enters a dangerous zone and there have been major corrections subsequently.
  • At the end of Dec’24, the value was 66.
  • At the end of Mar’25, the value had dropped to 27. So, the investor interest is certainly down since Dec’24…but can we say is it the bottom?
  • Not necessarily; in the past, in 2012-13 and 2019, when the markets went through both time and price correction, the values went down even lower
  • Just like 65 and above has been a dangerous zone for the markets, 25 and below has been a good buying zone for long term investors.
  • In the past, investors who invested when the value was around 25 or lower, did quite well on their investments over the next 3-5 years.

Note: Any indicator is prone to errors and can’t be relied on completely. Also, in general, one should invest only that money in stocks which you think you won’t need at least for 3-4 years.
